"Together we can...develop the whole child."

Bio

I have worked with children and young people in a range of different settings. I have worked as a housemistress in boarding schools, led summer camp programs in America and taught EAL to international students. These experiences have influenced my educational philosophy. That all children deserve experiences that will enhance their futures and to be surrounded by adults who are aspirational for them.

I have a passion for reading which I hope to pass onto the children I teach. Through signposting children to a range of quality texts that reflect their individual interests and personalities.

I love Plymouth by the sea, the moors and the people. In my free time I enjoy being outside sea swimming, paddle-boarding or hiking.

Why Mayflower?

I love the city of Plymouth and want to serve the local community. As a new teacher I find it valuable to work in a large primary school alongside experienced colleagues so that I can reflect on my practice with.

What I am Reading?

I am currently reading Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro. I am in a book club which I enjoy because it forces me to read books I would not usually gravitate towards.

What am I Researching?

I am currently researching the Rosenshine Principles and the practical implications of these strategies in the classroom.
