Together we can...inspire curious learners

Bio

I have been working at Mayflower for many years and am proud to be part of the Key Stage 1 team, supporting children as they develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for the next stage of their education. I am passionate about creating a positive and engaging learning environment where every child feels valued, challenged, and inspired to achieve their best.

A particular area of interest for me is phonics and early reading. I enjoy helping children develop their decoding, fluency, and comprehension skills, building strong foundations that enable them to become confident, enthusiastic readers. I believe that fostering a love of reading from an early age is key to unlocking success across the curriculum and opening up a world of opportunities for children.

Alongside academic achievement, I place great importance on helping children develop positive friendships and strong social skills. I strive to create a classroom culture built on kindness, respect, and inclusion, where children learn the value of teamwork, empathy, and supporting one another. Supporting pupils to build meaningful relationships and grow in confidence is one of the most rewarding aspects of my role.

I enjoy working closely with pupils and their families to ensure every child feels supported both in school and at home. I am also committed to continually developing my own practice and value the opportunity to take part in our weekly CPD sessions, which enable me to enhance my teaching, stay informed of current educational research, and provide the very best learning experiences for the children in my care.

Why Mayflower?

Mayflower to me has always felt like a family. I started many years ago and every year there is something new and exciting to get involved in.

What I am reading?

I love nothing more than sitting down of an evening with a good book and a hot drink and immersing myself in the storyline.

What am I Researching?

I value the opportunity to take part in our weekly CPD sessions, which enable me to enhance my teaching and stay informed of current research.
