Intro
Hi Matt, it is a delight to meet you today. Our podcast guest, Sam Steele, introduced us to you. We can't thank her enough (Hi Sam, if you are listening). We have interviewed over a 100 guests, but you are the most experienced podcaster of them all. Our listeners will therefore understand why we are so excited to chat with you today. Let's get started...
Getting Started & Finding Your Voice
1. Matt, thank you for being with us. You are a master of podcasting. We feel blessed to have this time with you. You started Rethink Audio from a small drama podcast. What inspired you to take that leap, and how did you know it could grow into something much bigger?
2. You’ve worked on shows like Happy Place and The Modern Mann. I have no idea what they are about. But, what makes a podcast stand out and connect with listeners?
Growing a Podcast
3. For a school podcast like ours, @madenmayflowermedia, what are some simple ways to grow our audience and get more people listening?
4. You’ve helped podcasts reach global audiences. How can a small podcast start thinking internationally? What subjects and topics would you advise we discussed and why?
5. What are some common mistakes people make when trying to grow their podcasts, and how can we avoid them?
Sponsorship & Sustainability
6. When should a podcast start looking for sponsors, and how do you approach potential sponsors?
7. What advice do you have for young podcasters who want to make their shows sustainable or even profitable?
Creativity & Content
8. How do you come up with fresh ideas for new podcast episodes or series?
9. Can you share a time when a creative risk paid off in one of your podcasts?
Advice for Young Podcasters
10. What’s one piece of advice you’d give to young people who are passionate about podcasting and want to make an impact?
11. I am 7 years old. I am curious - am I the youngest podcaster you've ever talked with like this? And can you see me doing this type of thing around the world? How do I take my ideas further and reach more people with podcasts?
12. At school we are working next year on developing a love of 'craft'. Making podcasts needs people who love the process of 'craft'. It takes a long time and huge effort to put podcasts together. We have to focus. What advice have you got for us and our teachers as we look at what it takes to build a craft and sense of brilliance when podcasting. Your experience is impressive. We must learn from you.
Outro
Matt, sadly we have come to the end of our time with you. We can see why and how you have been so successful in building a podcast business. We would love to take a project with you - we hope you like this idea and could back us and believe in us. We must thank you for your time and for sharing your expertise. We can't wait to take on our next podcast - maybe this could be again with you? On your next project - please remember us, because, 'Together we can...'
